Borghese Biking

As if we hadn't experience enough art, whilst in Rome we attempted to go to the Borghese Villa art gallery. Ignoring advice that prebooking tickets was a good idea, we instead headed up there bright and early on one of our last mornings. Alas! Luck wasn't in our favour and tickets were booked up for the next couple of days. Feeling a little sheepish that we'd thought we didn't need guide book advice we wandered back through the parks and gardens surrounding the villa.

Our mood was soon cheered up, however, when we passed bikes for rent. Feeling in the mood to blow the cobwebs out of our hair (and burn off a little pizza!), we picked up some bikes for an hour and cycled around the parks.

Cue compulsory free-wheeling biking shots!

These are my trusty white ASOS jeans, although I definitely wouldn't have worn them if I'd known we'd have been frolicking around a park on bikes! The floral top is from Primark. I was won over by the gorgeous colours and the high neck, always a winner with me!

Apparently landscaped in a naturalistic English manner, the gardens are filled with beautiful classical old buildings, fountains and ruins including the Piazza di Siena which hosted equestrian events for the 1960 summer Olympics and is the perfect spot to sit for your picnic lunch!

Looking at these photos has made me even more nostalgic for Italy because I can hear the rain outside as I'm tucked up posting this. Now listening to rain on the window as I'm snuggled up in all my knitwear is actually very lovely but after listening to it for several days now I'm swayed a little more by all this beautiful lavender in the sun!
